"We  are a very young species. We were plants, we were trees, and now we have become humans. We should remember our past existence and be humble. There is much we can learn from an oak tree."

   ---Thich Nhat Hanh, Buddhist Monk

KIDS AGAINST POLLUTION (KAP) is an international, multicultural youth organization dedicated to addressing pollution through interactive educational projects and events. Their focus is the effects of environmental degradation on children's health, which is also connected to combating poverty and prejudice.

KAP built a Tree of Life in Johannesburg seen by thousands of participants at the 2002 U.N. World Summit on Sustainable Development. They are keeping the Tree alive by touring it to important events, at every stop adding more "leaves," each representing a voice for the planet.

Join them in making the Tree a continuing symbol of our commitment to a better world. Along with showings of ONE CHILD – ONE VOICE, the KAP “Tree of Life: Messages of Sustainable Development,” is now a vital part of KAP's environmental education conferences and media events across the USA and other countries.

Make your voice heard. Vote for the Earth. Send a leaf postcard to the address at right.

The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life is the direct action element of ONE CHILD-ONE VOICE that has now taken on a life of its own. When the show was first broadcast in 1992, viewers were asked to draw a leaf on a postcard and send it to the Tree of Life and to their leaders.

Over one million leaf postcards poured in from around the world which created a Tree of Life in Rio. A beautiful new Tree of Life greeted world leaders in Johannesburg at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development. Now groups around the world are creating their own Trees as a way to display their commitment.

The Tree of Life will spread many branches as it grows, and allow other educational projects to take root beneath its canopy.

Here's what you can do: Become part of the Tree of Life.  Draw a leaf on a postcard and send it to:

BOX 151

Your cards will be used to create Trees of Life that are springing up like a forest around the world, a symbol of your personal pledge and the commitment of people everywhere to secure the Earth for all of us.
